December 14,2004 – Toyama

December 14, 2004

Dear Mr. Toyama,

It was brought to my attention approximately six weeks ago that you had a very unfortunate experience in Hawaii . I was informed in a very confidential way that you had been arrested unjustly which furthered the harassment that advocates such as yourself sometimes face. I have always known you to be of sound character and judgment and I am sure that although you will probably be found not guilty, you will in fact face some legal costs.

Hawaiian blind vendors through your leadership have obtained many great things and have fought many courageous fights. I want you to know that blind vendors across this country continually recognize your leadership and stamina when it comes to fighting the good fight.

Our eleven member committee in executive session, based on the above mentioned facts voted unanimously to send you a check in the amount of $1,000.00 to assist you in off setting any legal costs you or your family may incur.

We wish you and your family on behalf of the Illinois Committee of Blind Vendors a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year.

Thank you,

John Gordon, Chairman ICBV
